Start of Development / Day 1

And here we go for my second ever 7DRL!  Check out Spellforger 01: Entry Exam if you want to see how my first one turned out last year.

Unlike last year, I don't have anything to show off for the first few hours of work.  Mostly it has been a lot of code cleanup from last year - I'm starting with the code from my previous game (newly updated with new features as of a couple of days ago), and there was a lot of stuff in there that I'm not going to be using this time around.  I also had a few updates to add directionality to the tiles and creatures - this is going to be a game where facing matters.

The idea for the game is based off of an old board game called Robo Rally, published by Avalon Hill (at least, that's the version I've got).  The premise is that the player is controlling a robot in a race through an old factory, but rather than controlling the robot directly the player sets up five rounds worth of actions in advance, then the robot follows the instructions blindly, come what may.  Even if the instructions were perfect, if another robot shoves you aside, you may end up a good distance away from where you wanted to go.

I started at 10:15 PM EST on Friday evening (February 28th), so I'll have until that time on March 6th to get it finished up.  I'm starting a little early, but I won't be able to put time into this on Saturday the 7th, so I wanted to make sure I'd get my 168 hours finished up before then.
